Sunday 10th October 2010 at 18.00hrs

   Present: Gordon Eaton - Captain
   Ken Stafford - Junior Organiser
Mark Smith - Assistant Junior Organiser
Ryan Stafford - New Junior Captain
Adam Hatcher - Past Junior Captain
   Gary Salt - General Manager

Apologies for absence: Mick Phillpot and Jo Common.

Ken chaired the meeting and introduced the Club Captain, Gordon Eaton , the past Junior Captain, Adam Hatcher, the new Junior Captain, Ryan Stafford the incoming Vice Junior Captain, Greg Andrew who will be assisted by Frankie Ingham. Mark Smith was also introduced as the new Assistant Junior Organiser.

Gordon Eaton welcomed all parents and juniors and expressed how he and the Club were very proud of the Junior section. He stated that it had been a very special year at the Club, with it being West Hove Golf Clubs Centenary.

Gordon said that in general it had been a successful year for the Junior Section, may be not in terms of trophies but in terms of developing a very young but very talented group of golfers, Gordon went on to say that Junior golf often goes in phases where good golfers seem to come through at the same time. We at West Hove seem to be very fortunate and have a good track record in producing good golfers.

The Captain went on to say we are all looking forward to seeing the new talent develop and blossom and he would like to see the Juniors step up to the plate and raise their games even higher, Gordon reiterated that our Junior section are potential future Junior Captains, Adult Members, Committee Members and who knows even Club Captains!

The Captain expressed that there are plans afoot, that if successful, he believes will make West Hove one of the best Clubs / Academies in Sussex.

Gordon said that he would like to thank Ken Stafford for his efforts and hard work on behalf of the Committee and all at West Hove Golf Club.

Ken Stafford introduced Mark Smith as the new assistant Junior Organiser, Ken thanked Mick Phillpot for all his help during the year and particularly with organisation of the Clubs Centenary Junior Open, thanks also to the Junior Committee and General Manager.

Ken went on to say that a lot of last years Juniors moved up to Intermediate categories due to their age, Ken used this as an opportunity to allow the younger Juniors to become involved in the JBL matches, these matches together with coaching and club competitions, competing against other improving and some times better Juniors is a great way to learn and develop.

Ken thanked our Professional, Graeme Crompton and his staff for their involvement in the Junior Coaching Programme. Ken finished by saying that he does his up most to run the section in a fair manner and is happy to discuss any matters that may arise. Ken thanked the Juniors for all their help and support and also expressed his thanks to Adam Hatcher for his year as Captain.

Adam Hatcher thanked everyone for attending the AGM and to the parents for financing their child/s golf. Adam expressed his congratulations to all the competition winners throughout 2009/10, Adam finished by wishing the New Junior Captain all the very best for 2010/11.

Ken explained that due to the age of Greg Andrew he would only be able to serve part of the year as Junior Vice Captain but he would be assisted by Frankie Ingham who would take over the post when Greg is unable to continue.

The new Junior Captain, Ryan Stafford thanked Ken and Mick Phillpot for all their efforts and support, thanks also to Adam Hatcher for his year as Captain. Ryan went on to say that he hopes that the excellent support from the Junior golfers continues for the remainder of 2010 and 2011.

Ken Stafford then announced the Junior Competition winners for 2009/10, prizes were presented by Club Captain, Mr Gordon Eaton.

Ken made all aware that all donations and sponsorship are gratefully received by the Junior Section and those wishing to financially contribute can always speak to him at anytime. Ken advised that we are just about to start on a new year of Junior coaching, Ken explained that this year a £20 deposit will be required to secure a place on the Junior coaching Programme. These changes have been necessary due to some Juniors not showing up nor supplying a legitimate reason for not attending, this of course then means that a willing Junior has potentially missed out, no adverse comments received, taken as agreed. Ken intends to redecorate the Junior Changing rooms in Oct / Nov 2010.

Ken advised all that the Trophies received will need to be engraved where relevant, the process being: please take them along to Roger Brown Engravers and ask for the work to be billed to the West Hove Golf Club account.

Ken thanked all for their support and attending, and the meeting closed at 18.25hrs.

7 March 2010 - West Hove's Juniors donate £300 to 'Rockinghorse'
In keeping with the theme set by Club Captain Gordon Eaton and Ladies' Captain Jan Seabrook, our Juniors have chosen to support a children's charity by donating their
Dockerill's Junior Brighton League winner's prize of £300 to Rockinghorse. This charity, that makes life better for sick children in Sussex, is best known for its work with the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital in Brighton.
In a letter to Ken Stafford, West Hove's Junior Organiser, the Rockinghorse's Community Fundraiser, Analiese Doctrove wrote "I would like to say a special thank you to Jonny Ingram who chose to donate the money to Rockinghorse, and also Malcolm Dockerill who kindly provides a fund for the top three teams in the Brighton Junior Golf League".

18 February 2010 - The Juniors win their first competitive match of the season
After one of the coldest and snowiest starts to the year for some while, our Juniors were pleased to be able to compete in their first match of the season against Singing Hills Golf Course. The match was played today at West Hove and the team of Ryan Stafford (captain), Jack Smith, Frankie Ingham, Robert Haggart, Alex Jago, Dean Waller, Tyler Hounsome and Jonny Ingram (who stood in at the last moment) won 4 - 0. Weather conditions were not good but credit goes to all involved for taking every match to the finish.
